MCGS July General Meeting

Enhancing your Family History with Investigative DNA A Case Study

Julian Rebelo is the current Staff Investigative Genetic Genealogist for the Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center. A practicing traditional genealogist since he was a teenager, his professional and genealogical background include a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Monmouth University, a certificate in Genealogical Studies from Boston University, and an alumni of the Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Certificate Program. Julian is also a founding member of the non-profit Wolf Pack DNA.  He is committed to using the power of DNA towards helping resolve family mysteries and tackle challenging cases of unidentified human remains, violent crime, and wrongful convictions

Julian will show how to utilize DNA as a valuable asset in enhancing your own family history research. He will share an engaging case study of DNA in action, from how his team at Ramapo College utilized investigative genetic genealogy – an emerging field which has revolutionized the ability to identify unknown individuals–to give a name to human remains found along the New Jersey shoreline over 180 years ago.
